Workshop Overview
This training equips counselors and clinical social workers with knowledge and practical skills to use for suicide prevention and crisis response. Participants will review the Duty to Warn process, learn about the involuntary process of Missouri, and how to write affective affidavits to support both processes. They will also learn the importance of creating a safety plan, their own safety plan templates, the use of appropriate law enforcement, CIT Officers, to assist clients when they are experiencing a mental health crisis.

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

Explain the involuntary process.
Analyze an affidavit.
Recognize key components that are needed for affidavits .
Discuss Crisis Intervention Teams (CITs).
Identify the importance of CIT services for our communities.
Recognize key elements of a safety plan.
Create a safety plan.
