Workshop Overview

This foundational training equips counseling interns and mental health professionals with essential knowledge and practical skills to recognize and assess suicidality. Participants will learn to identify key warning signs, understand risk and difference between suicidal ideas vs suicidal with plan/intent/access, means and target, and how to conduct basic suicide risk assessments using evidence-based tools. The course also provides clinicals with resources within the community to support mental health challenges.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to:

  • Distinguish suicidal behaviors

  • Analyze contributing factors of suicide

  • Manage and evaluate suicide ideations

    • Discuss mnemonic devices

    • Discuss screening tools

    • Discuss assessment tools

  • Discuss behavioral health resources in the community
