Workshop Overview

This play therapy workshop explores how culture, identity, bias, and systemic experiences influence children’s play, family dynamics, and therapeutic relationships through case scenarios, culturally responsive interventions, and clinically relevant applications for diverse populations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to: 

  1. Identify at least five ways cultural assumptions, systemic bias, or contextual factors may influence Play Therapy assessment, interpretation, and intervention.

  2. Analyze how cultural identities including religion, socioeconomic status, family structure, neurodivergence, immigration experiences, and geographical context may appear within children’s Play Therapy themes and behaviors.

  3. Demonstrate at least three culturally responsive Play Therapy interventions that support emotional expression and therapeutic engagement with diverse children and families.

  4. Describe at least three strategies Play Therapists can use to increase cultural humility, reduce bias, and strengthen therapeutic attunement in the playroom.

  5. Apply Child-Centered Play Therapy and Gestalt Play Therapy principles to culturally responsive case scenarios involving diverse family systems and identities.

  • 6:00–6:30pm: Cultural Identity in Play Themes and Behaviors

  • 6:30–7:00pm: Culturally Responsive Play Therapy Interventions

  • 7:00–7:30pm: Cultural Humility, Case Application, Wrap-Up, and Q&A

Refund Policy

  • Full Refund Minus 20% Service Fee: Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days before the course start date are eligible for a refund of fees less a 20% service charge.

  • 50% Refund: Cancellations received between 13 and 5 calendar days before the course start date will be refunded 50% of the course fee.

  • No Refund: Cancellations received within 4 calendar days or less of the course start date will be non-refundable.

Substitutions

  • Name changes or participant substitutions are accepted at any time prior to the course start date at no additional charge.

Course Cancellation by The Community Reach, LLC

  • The Community Reach, LLC reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment.

  • Participants will be notified of cancellations no later than 7 business days prior to the scheduled course start date.

  • In the event of a cancellation, any prepaid registration fees will be fully refunded.
