Workshop Overview
This workshop equips play therapists with strategies to work effectively with neurodivergent children. Participants will learn to apply neurodiversity-affirming practices, leverage each child’s strengths and interests, adapt the playroom for sensory and emotional needs, and use flexible approaches to support engagement and growth.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Define neurodiversity, neurodivergence, and neurodiversity-affirming practice in the context of play therapy.
Identify strengths, talents, and special interests that can enhance therapeutic engagement
Adapt the playroom environment to accommodate sensory, emotional, and relational needs.
Apply flexible play therapy approaches to accommodate varying attention, executive functioning, and processing abilities.
Schedule:
2 - 2:30pm: Registration and Sign-In
2:30 - 3:15pm: Foundations of Neurodiversity-Affirming Play Therapy
3:15 - 4:00pm: Strengths-Based Practice and Playroom Adaptations
4:00 - 4:30pm: Flexible Clinical Application, Wrap-Up, and Q&A

If you have registered but are unable to attend a scheduled course, please notify The Community Reach, LLC – Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy as soon as possible by emailing training@thecommunityreach.org.
Refund Policy
Full Refund Minus 20% Service Fee: Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days before the course start date are eligible for a refund of fees less a 20% service charge.
50% Refund: Cancellations received between 13 and 5 calendar days before the course start date will be refunded 50% of the course fee.
No Refund: Cancellations received within 4 calendar days or less of the course start date will be non-refundable.
Substitutions
Name changes or participant substitutions are accepted at any time prior to the course start date at no additional charge.
Course Cancellation by The Community Reach, LLC
The Community Reach, LLC reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment.
Participants will be notified of cancellations no later than 7 business days prior to the scheduled course start date.
In the event of a cancellation, any prepaid registration fees will be fully refunded.
