Workshop Overview
This interactive workshop explores the integration of expressive arts into play therapy, with a focus on visual art and music-based interventions. Participants will learn how Gestalt principles guide creative play, how to structure activities to externalize and process emotions, and how to facilitate experiential exercises that enhance engagement and emotional expression. Participants will gain practical skills to apply with children and adolescents in trauma-informed and culturally responsive ways.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Describe the reasons for integrating art into play therapy to enhance client engagement and insight.
Facilitate expressive arts activities through a Gestalt-informed, here-and-now approach.
Apply a structured process in creative play therapy to help clients externalize, feel, and process emotions.
Engage in at least one visual art activity to help clients externalize feelings.
Explore at least one music-based activity to support emotional expression.

If you have registered but are unable to attend a scheduled course, please notify The Community Reach, LLC – Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy as soon as possible by emailing training@thecommunityreach.org.
Refund Policy
Full Refund Minus 20% Service Fee: Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days before the course start date are eligible for a refund of fees less a 20% service charge.
50% Refund: Cancellations received between 13 and 5 calendar days before the course start date will be refunded 50% of the course fee.
No Refund: Cancellations received within 4 calendar days or less of the course start date will be non-refundable.
Substitutions
Name changes or participant substitutions are accepted at any time prior to the course start date at no additional charge.
Course Cancellation by The Community Reach, LLC
The Community Reach, LLC reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment.
Participants will be notified of cancellations no later than 7 business days prior to the scheduled course start date.
In the event of a cancellation, any prepaid registration fees will be fully refunded.
