Workshop Overview

This course provides counselors and social workers with a practical and interactive overview of ethical principles, decision-making, confidentiality, mandated reporting, dual relationships, boundaries, documentation standards, supervision responsibilities, and technology/telehealth considerations. The training emphasizes the application of ethical codes (ACA, NASW), state guidelines, and real-world case decision-making. Participants will strengthen ethical judgment skills, increase confidence when navigating ethical dilemmas, and learn strategies for preventing ethical violations.

Learning Objectives

By the end of this training, participants will be able to: 

  • Identify core ethical standards from ACA and NASW Codes of Ethics.

  • Apply an ethical decision-making model to real-world clinical dilemmas.

  • Demonstrate understanding of confidentiality, mandated reporting, and informed consent.

  • Identify and prevent dual relationships, boundary crossings, and boundary violations.

  • Describe best practices for clinical documentation and record management.

  • Navigate ethical issues in telehealth, technology use, and digital communication.

  • Collaborate ethically with supervisors, colleagues, and interdisciplinary teams.

  • Reflect on personal biases that may impact ethical decision-making.

If you have registered but are unable to attend a scheduled course, please notify The Community Reach, LLC – Approved Provider for the Association for Play Therapy as soon as possible by emailing training@thecommunityreach.org.

Refund Policy

  • Full Refund Minus 20% Service Fee: Cancellations received at least 14 calendar days before the course start date are eligible for a refund of fees less a 20% service charge.

  • 50% Refund: Cancellations received between 13 and 5 calendar days before the course start date will be refunded 50% of the course fee.

  • No Refund: Cancellations received within 4 calendar days or less of the course start date will be non-refundable.

Substitutions

  • Name changes or participant substitutions are accepted at any time prior to the course start date at no additional charge.

Course Cancellation by The Community Reach, LLC

  • The Community Reach, LLC reserves the right to cancel any course due to insufficient enrollment.

  • Participants will be notified of cancellations no later than 7 business days prior to the scheduled course start date.

  • In the event of a cancellation, any prepaid registration fees will be fully refunded.
