Workshop Overview
This training offers a practical and immersive introduction to using sandtray within play therapy. Participants will explore how sand and miniatures support symbolic expression, emotional processing, and meaningful therapeutic insights. Through experiential activities and guided discussion, clinicians will learn to facilitate sandtray work with cultural awareness and document sessions in ways that honor the depth of nonverbal play.
Learning Objectives
By the end of this training, participants will be able to:
Describe the history of sandtray therapy.
Explain how the Therapeutic Powers of Play operate in sandtray play therapy.
Identify common play themes in sandtray work
Discuss cultural considerations for selecting miniatures and interpreting symbolic play in sandtray sessions.
Practice five developmentally appropriate processing questions used in sandtray play therapy.
Describe ethical documentation practices for sandtray play therapy that honor symbolic and nonverbal expression.

11am - 12pm: Utilizing Sand Tray and Practice
12 - 1pm: Documentation and Q&A
